Purim is a time of joy, unity, and giving, and this year, we had the incredible opportunity to bring these values to life with the help of our friends at DLA Piper. Through two meaningful events—one at their office and one at Tel Hashomer Hospital—we ensured that the spirit of Purim reached those who need it most: injured soldiers, soldiers serving in the Gaza Envelope, and displaced children from the north of Israel.

Packing Mishloach Manot with Purpose

On Tuesday afternoon, DLA Piper graciously hosted us at their offices for a special pre-Purim gathering. Continuing our Purim-related initiatives and embracing the excitement of March Madness, we welcomed local clients and law firms to join us in a hands-on act of kindness. Together, we packed 350 mishloach manot—beautifully arranged Purim gift packages—filled with delicious treats and festive surprises. These packages were destined for brave individuals spending Purim away from home, offering them a taste of holiday joy and a reminder that they are in our hearts.

Adding to the festive spirit, we embraced the theme of ונהפוכו (the topsy-turvy nature of Purim) by treating our guests to “breakfast for dinner.” This fun and lighthearted meal brought smiles to everyone’s faces as we reflected on the importance of giving back.

Delivering Joy to Tel Hashomer Hospital

The magic of Purim didn’t end there. On Shushan Purim (Sunday), we met the dedicated team from DLA Piper at Tel Hashomer Hospital, where we personally delivered the mishloach manot to injured soldiers undergoing rehabilitation. In addition to the festive packages, we also brought games, LEGO sets, and other treats to uplift the spirits of these heroes.

As we handed out the gifts, we sat with the soldiers, listening to their stories—of courage, sacrifice, and resilience. We learned about their time in the army, their unwavering determination to recover, and their commitment to emerging stronger than ever. Their words and spirit were nothing short of inspiring, reminding us of the power of perseverance and the importance of standing together in support.

The Power of Community and Giving

Purim is about more than just costumes and celebrations—it’s about bringing light, joy, and kindness to others. Thanks to DLA Piper and their incredible team, we were able to make a real difference in the lives of those facing challenges, ensuring they felt the warmth of community and the joy of the holiday.

At Smiles for the Kids, we are beyond grateful for partners like DLA Piper who embody the true spirit of giving. Whether it’s through packaging gifts, sharing a meal, or simply listening to someone’s story, every small act of kindness creates a ripple effect of positivity.

This Purim, let’s all take a moment to extend a hand to those around us, making the world a little brighter—one smile at a time.
