When 12-year-old Kara Feit from Los Angeles began planning her Bat Mitzvah, she knew she wanted it to be more than just a celebration-she wanted it to be an opportunity to give back, to connect, and to make a real difference.

Kara lives with her twin brother, Zach, her younger brother, Levi, her parents, and their adorable dog, Iris. Like many girls her age, Kara has been preparing for her Bat Mitzvah with excitement and anticipation. But unlike most, Kara has chosen to mark this milestone with a selfless and beautiful act of kindness.

More Than a Celebration

For Kara, Israel is more than a country-it’s a part of who she is. A proud young Zionist, Kara has always attended Jewish Day School, where she has grown up immersed in the values of community, compassion, and Jewish identity. These values are now guiding her B’nai Mitzvah project.

Deeply moved by the events of October 7th and their impact on Israeli families, Kara decided to dedicate her Bat Mitzvah to helping a fellow young girl in Israel-someone her age, with the same hopes and dreams, but facing unimaginable hardship.

A Powerful Connection Across Continents

Through her B’nai Mitzvah project, Kara has been connected with the daughter of Avraham Tzvi Friedman, z”l, a heroic soldier who tragically fell defending Israel. His daughter, also preparing for her Bat Mitzvah, will be celebrating under the heavy shadow of loss. But thanks to Kara’s initiative, she won’t be doing it alone.

Kara is determined to raise funds to help make this Israeli girl’s Bat Mitzvah as joyful, meaningful, and memorable as possible. Her goal? To ensure that despite the tragedy her counterpart has experienced, she can still smile, dance, and feel celebrated on her special day.

Chocolate With a Mission

To raise money, Kara is combining her creativity and her sweet tooth. She is making and selling handcrafted chocolate, with 100% of the proceeds going toward this special Bat Mitzvah in Israel. With each sale, Kara shares a piece of her heart and hope.

Her dream is simple but powerful: to bring light to someone else’s darkness.

A Girl With a Heart of Gold

Kara understands how fortunate she is to be surrounded by family, love, and security. It’s this awareness, paired with her deep love for Israel and the Jewish people, that has inspired her to act. Her compassion, leadership, and sense of purpose are far beyond her years.

As Kara’s own Bat Mitzvah approaches, she’s not just preparing for a rite of passage, she’s embodying its meaning. She’s stepping into Jewish adulthood by taking responsibility for others, by lifting someone up, and by affirming that even one young person can make a world of difference.

To support Kara’s mission and help make an unforgettable Bat Mitzvah for the daughter of Avraham Tzvi Friedman, z”l, please consider donating or purchasing some of her delicious chocolate creations. Together, we can honor the memory of a hero and bring joy to his daughter’s special day.
